Cross Roads

Last night I made the second block chosen by the LIMOD Quilt Guild to bring to this month’s meeting. The tutorial comes from Katie Blakesley’s website Swim Bike Quilt and can be found here. It was really fun to play around with the values on this block. And even though the original block was meant to form a cross (hence the name), I really like the layout I ended up with, and the fact that color choices can completely change the final look of a quilt pattern. Because really, isn’t that such a huge part of the fun? So many possibilities!

When I finished the block, I laid all of my completed blocks on the table. My husband walked in the room and said, “you know, those blocks would work together in a quilt.”

I just looked at him.

Then he said, “oh. . . that’s what you’re doing.” It made me laugh. He really thought he had come up with a clever idea. To be honest, I don’t think he understands half the stuff I describe to him when it comes to fabric and quilting, but I appreciate the fact that at the time I’m talking, he pretends like he gets it, because he knows how important it is to me!
